What is it?

The InTankFITT Container is a self-contained ballast water treatment system that delivers compliant, in-tank treatment without the need for filtration or onboard installation. This system, housed in a standard 20-foot shipping container, enables ship-owners and operators to access ballast water treatment as a portable solution, whether the system is mounted onboard, placed dockside, or installed on a mobile barge.

Designed for flexibility, scalability, and operational simplicity, the InTankFITT Container can be both a fixed or service-for-a-fee solution. How does it work?

The InTankFITT Container uses a unique, filterless in-tank treatment method to deliver fully compliant ballast water discharge – without interfering with your vessels intake or operational timing

  • Ballast intake – vessels take on ballast water as usual – no filtration or treatment is needed during intake.
  • In-Tank treatment – once the ballast operation is complete, the containerized system circulates water through the tanks using a marine-grade submersible pump. Sodium Hypochlorite is injected into the tanks to disinfect the water.

  • TRO Monitoring & Control – the Treatment Residual Oxidant (TRO) levels are monitored in real-time using automated sensors. The system adjusts chemical dosing and initiates neutralization automatically before discharge.

  • Verified Compliance Before Discharge – Treatment is checked twice: once during dosing and again before discharge. The system generates easy-to-read compliance reports accessible to crews, port authorities, and stakeholders.
